About Andreoni
A few years ago, shoulder impingement took two of my favorite lifts away from me. Dips were out, and even the bench press had become something I dreaded instead of enjoyed.
I started paying closer attention to the movements my shoulders could still tolerate comfortably. One pattern stood out: neutral-grip pressing, with the palms facing each other instead of being locked into a traditional overhand position. That simple discovery became the starting point for the Andreoni Bar. I wanted one tool that would let me press down for chest work and press upward for a more comfortable shoulder press, while keeping my hands in a natural neutral position.
I trained with it consistently and gradually rebuilt my strength. Over time, my shoulders felt stronger, and eventually I was able to return to regular bench pressing without pain... all without using a barbell during the rebuilding process.
Then something unexpected happened. A few of my Gen X training buddies (guys with decades of lifting and their own share of beat-up shoulders) started asking to try the bar. They appreciated the same comfortable pressing positions I had discovered. That was when I realized the idea could be useful far beyond my own training.
The Andreoni Bar wasn't simply about finding a way around an uncomfortable movement. It was about creating more options, allowing lifters to train hard while choosing positions that feel better for their joints and their bodies.
That idea became the foundation of Andreoni Fitness. Every product we've developed since follows the same philosophy that inspired the Bar from the beginning: Train hard. Respect your joints. And never accept unnecessary pain as the price of progress.
